Diwali break in Rajasthan Schools - Oct 13 to Oct 24, 2025

10 September 2025 - Posted in Holidays by

Diwali this year brings not just lights and sweets, but also a heartwarming change to the school calendar. As per the recent government announcement, Rajasthan government schools will now observe Diwali break earlier than planned — from October 13 to October 24 — shifting the vacation dates so that students can celebrate the festival fully with family and friends.

When Is the Break?

Schools across Rajasthan will be closed from October 13 to October 24, 2025, instead of the earlier holiday window of October 16-27. Earlier the break was of 12 days including Sundays and now it is of 13 days. Students who will take leave on 25th Oct 2025 will enjoy a vacation of 15 days. This gives children a few extra days to celebrate Diwali at home, visit relatives, and come back refreshed.

Director of Secondary Education Sitaram Jat has issued its orders on 10th September 2025 (Wednesday evening). He said that the Diwali holiday break dates have been changed on the orders of Education Minister Madan Dilawar, and will be updated in the Shivira Panchang 2025-26 also.

How Students Can Make the Most of Diwali Break

Here are some ideas for students to both enjoy and grow during the Diwali break:

1. Family Traditions & Togetherness: Help with decorating the house, lighting diyas, and preparing rangolis. Spend time sharing family stories about Diwali.

2. Creative Arts & Crafts: Try making homemade Diwali cards, torans, lanterns, or paper diyas. Craft activities not only keep little hands busy but also spark imagination.

3. Reading & Story Time: Pick up books about Diwali — legends, stories, mythologies. It’s a peaceful way to learn the meaning behind the festival of lights.

4. Help in Community & Kindness: Diwali is a time for generosity. Older students might volunteer in small ways — helping neighbours, cleanliness drives, distributing snacks or sweets in modest ways. Acts of kindness make the festival richer.

5. Enjoy Festive Moments & Culture: Dress in traditional outfits, try light fireworks safely if permitted, savour sweets, cook special food with family — all with joy and safety in mind.

6. Learning Through Break: Capture moments — take photos, sketch what you see, write a short diary or poem about your Diwali. This can be shared later in school as mini-projects, helping students express what the festival means to them.

A Message From School

At Open Fields School, we believe festivals like Diwali are more than a holiday. They are moments to build memories, connect with culture, develop creativity, and reinforce values of light over darkness, generosity, and community. May this Diwali break be a time where you feel joy, love, and peace.

Wishing all our students, parents, and staff a Happy Diwali in advance! May your homes light up with happiness, laughter, and hope.
