OFPL Finale – A Fitting End to a Spectacular Summer Tournament!

27 June 2025 - Posted in Holidays by

As the summer sun blazed over Bharatpur on 27th June, the field of Open Fields School witnessed more than just rising temperatures — it saw the thrilling culmination of a journey filled with teamwork, sportsmanship, and youthful passion. The Grand Finale of the first edition of the Open Fields Premier League (OFPL) brought together two formidable teams — Brij Bouncers (BB) and Ranjeet Royals (RR) — in a face-off that would decide the ultimate champions of this unforgettable summer league.

Despite the 42°C heat and a dry, slow-looking pitch, nothing could dampen the enthusiasm of our young cricketers, coaches, or cheering parents. With the crowd buzzing and teams pumped, the final promised high-octane drama — and it delivered in every over.

Both BB and RR had stormed into the finals with consistent performances, but this match was about nerves, strategy, and execution. BB, known for their big hitters and disciplined fielding, once again proved their mettle under pressure. On the other side, RR came prepared with strong bowling and sharp fielders, hoping to turn the tables and claim the title.

Final Match - Brij Bouncers vs Ranjeet Royals

Brij Bouncers (BB) and Ranjeet Royals (RR), the two most consistent teams of the season, were ready to lock horns in the ultimate battle. BB didn’t get the dream start they hoped for, as Anshika from RR stunned everyone by taking two early wickets — sending both openers, Shanvi and Chahak, back to the pavilion. Mohak then stepped in to hold the innings together, but the scoreboard still moved slowly.

The turning point came when Mitansh Saini walked in and smashed two massive sixes, bringing life into the BB innings with a quick 18 runs. Aniket followed with a handy 14. Then came Garvit, who hit three consecutive sixes to lift the spirits of the BB dugout, scoring 19. But the real storm came in the form of Prince, who lit up the field with five towering sixes and scored a match-winning 30 runs — his personal best of the tournament. Mahika ensured no momentum was lost as she added another 18 runs. BB finished their innings at a record-breaking total of 102 runs — the highest in the tournament.

With 103 to chase, the pressure was heavy on the Ranjeet Royals. Anshika and Kunj gave a steady start, and Manya tried to take on the challenge, scoring 18 runs. Dakshit and Kridha also joined the effort but were kept in check by disciplined bowling and exceptional field placement. Prince added to his all-round brilliance by taking the wicket of Kridha, while Mahika’s sharp captaincy made sure there were no easy boundaries. Her fielding strategy — placing players at boundary lines to cut off sixes — worked wonders once again.

In the end, Ranjeet Royals were restricted to just 63 runs, falling short by 39 runs. Brij Bouncers emerged as the deserving champions of the OFPL 2025!

Award Ceremony

Prince was declared the Man of the Match for his explosive 30 runs and 1 wicket. With a total of 89 runs in the tournament, he also won the Orange Cap. Anshika, with her excellent bowling in the final, clinched the Purple Cap for tournament highest 3 wickets. But it was Mahika who was the star of the season — winning the Player of the Tournament title for her all-round contribution of 58 runs, 2 wickets, electric fielding, and exceptional leadership. As she lifted the trophy with her team, she humbly dedicated the win to her players and shared her winning mantra: “In this format, sixes change the game — and so does a strong field. We played with heart and smart.”
